Man’s Body Found Floating in Golf Course Pond

NEW YORK — An 84-year-old man was discovered dead in a pond at a golf course in the Bronx on Friday, authorities said. Police received a 911 call in the early afternoon reporting a man floating in the water at the Pelham Bay & Split Rock Golf Courses.

Upon arrival, authorities found an unattended golf cart next to the pond. It is unknown whether the man had been an active golfer who was using the cart, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

The elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene. Sources have indicated that his body appeared to be decomposed. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until his family can be notified.

While the cause of death remains under investigation, law enforcement officials have stated that there is currently no suspicion of criminality.

The Post has made attempts to contact Pelham Bay & Split Rock Golf Course officials for comment but has not received a response at this time.
