Mask Mandate Order May Be Extended

(TheDailyHorn.com) – On May 16, the CDC revised its mask guidelines to allow fully vaccinated people to shed their masks and stop social distancing as cases of COVID-19 drop significantly. The United States isn’t the only country seeing reduced case numbers.

The United Kingdom reported on June 1 that there were no COVID-19 related deaths. However, it’s not known if the country will end the mask mandate soon or not.

Despite the great news, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock won’t rule out extending mask mandates and work from home orders. The government proposes ending COVID-19 restrictions on June 21. However, some officials are expressing concern about a new variant coming out of India and suggest the June 21 proposal should be extended several weeks to prevent a third wave. Hancock said there’s no evidence that the timeline to end the mask mandate should be extended but added he would decide sometime over the next week to ten days.

Approximately 75% of adults in the UK have received at least one vaccination shot, and half are fully vaccinated.
