Mass Shooting Leaves 2 Dead, Multiple Injured

Washington, D.C. – In a devastating incident early Sunday morning, a mass shooting occurred in Northwest, D.C., resulting in the deaths of two men and injuries to several others. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) confirmed the tragic event during a news conference.

According to the MPD, officers from the Third District responded to reports of shots fired at around 3 a.m. near the intersection of 7th and P Street NW. Upon arrival, they discovered that at least seven individuals had been shot. Sadly, two men were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others were rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Another victim later walked into a local hospital seeking treatment for their injuries.

This tragedy breaks an eight-day streak with no homicides in the district. The MPD’s previous reported murder occurred on March 8, making this incident a grim reminder of the ongoing violence prevalent in the area.

As investigations continue, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. MPD disclosed that the initial information suggests that one or more suspects intentionally targeted the victims. Commissioner Berry speculated that gang-related activities and territorial disputes may be involved, though not necessarily in the traditional sense.

The victims have been identified as 32-year-old Anthony Brown, a resident of Southeast, D.C., and 32-year-old Jay Lucks from Baltimore, MD. The suspect, described by police as having an average build and wearing light pants and a blue shirt, was last seen heading south on 7th Street.

In an effort to aid the investigation, the Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 per victim, totaling a possible reward of $50,000, for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for this heinous offense. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police.
