The body of Marcus Freiberger, a 45-year-old yoga instructor from Arizona, was discovered in a rock quarry in Phoenix on March 19, nearly a month after he disappeared. Freiberger had been reported missing after failing to return from a blind date. His body was found approximately six miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Freiberger’s sister, Tina Hall, confirmed the tragic news of her brother’s death in a heartfelt social media post. She expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support the family had received since her brother’s disappearance.
The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner identified Freiberger’s body on March 18. A friend of the yoga instructor revealed that the medical examiner’s office had to use fingerprints from the FBI’s database to confirm his identity.
The circumstances surrounding Freiberger’s death are still under investigation by the police. His cause of death remains undetermined and is currently listed as “pending.”
Freiberger was last seen on February 21, heading to a blind date. His friends grew concerned when they discovered that his 2-year-old dog, Thomas, had been left alone in his apartment for several days. The police were alerted to his disappearance on March 14, and his information was subsequently entered into state and national missing person databases.
Freiberger was last seen driving a white 2021 GMC Sierra pickup with an Arizona license plate. The police have not disclosed whether they have located the vehicle or identified the person he was supposed to meet on the date.
Rodger Freiberger, the yoga instructor’s father, described his son as a well-liked and ambitious young man. He expressed his family’s desire to understand what led to his son’s disappearance and death. He also mentioned that his son had been dealing with some personal issues, including struggles with drugs and financial difficulties.
Before his disappearance, Freiberger had recently started teaching at Melrose Yoga and was well-received by the studio’s clients. The yoga studio shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing their condolences and wishing for his soul to find peace and liberation, a concept known as “moksha” in Hinduism.
