Police said the deaths at a hotel near NRG Park are being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide.
HOUSTON, Texas — A mother and her two young children were found dead Friday inside a Houston hotel room near NRG Park, where police said they are investigating the case as an apparent murder-suicide.
The bodies were discovered at a Residence Inn by Marriott in southwest Houston after hotel staff checked the room, authorities said. Houston police and fire officials said the woman was about 40 years old and the children were a 9-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. Officials said all three appeared to have died from gunshot wounds.
Houston Fire Department Senior Capt. Raul D. Reyes said investigators believe the mother shot the children before taking her own life. The family had checked into the hotel earlier in the week, and staff had not heard from them before the room check, according to authorities. Police said the room was locked from the inside when the bodies were found. The names of the woman and children had not been released Friday pending notification of relatives.
The hotel is in the city’s Braeswood area, near the Texas Medical Center and NRG Park, a busy part of southwest Houston with hospitals, apartments, businesses and hotels. Police did not say
