A former nurse from Florida, Alexis Von Yates, 35, has been sentenced to two years in prison after her husband discovered her in a sexual act with his 15-year-old son. The incident occurred in Ocala last July while the teenager was visiting his father. According to the arrest warrant, Von Yates initiated the act while watching a horror movie with her stepson.
Von Yates, who has since lost her job, reportedly told the boy she was sexually frustrated due to a two-week abstinence while menstruating. This led to the teenager undressing her and engaging in sexual intercourse, while his younger siblings were asleep in a nearby room. The boy later recounted that during the act, his stepmother repeatedly expressed regret, uttering phrases like “Oh f–k” and “This is so bad.”
The couple believed that the boy’s father, Frank Yates, was working overnight. However, he unexpectedly walked in on them during the act. The teenager fled to the bathroom, pants around his ankles, while his stepmother attempted to cover her nudity with a blanket, which only concealed her lower half. The father, shocked and confused, asked his wife what was happening before removing his son from the home.
Initially, Von Yates faced charges of sexual battery by a person in familial authority, a first-degree felony that could result in a life sentence and a $10,000 fine. However, she pleaded no contest last month after being offered a plea deal on a lesser charge of lewd and lascivious battery on a child between the ages of 12 and 16.
During her sentencing, Von Yates remained emotionless, dressed in a black turtleneck. In addition to her prison sentence, she was ordered to complete 200 hours of community service and pay fines and court fees. Judge Timothy McCourt of the Florida Fifth Judicial Circuit Court agreed to the plea deal, significantly reducing the sentence after the boy and his mother expressed their full agreement with the sentencing.
The boy’s mother, during the hearing, labeled Von Yates an “incestuous pedophile” who had groomed and violated her son. She also called her a “coward” with no remorse for her actions, which she described as “despicable.” She further stated that the incident had ruined the relationship between the victim and his father, who has not spoken to him since the incident.
Von Yates was ordered to have no contact with the boy before she was handcuffed and taken out of the courtroom. She had already lost her nursing license following her arrest in November.
