Obama Ally Finally Headed to Jail After Pleading Guilty

(TheDailyHorn.com) – A former Obama adviser is in deep trouble with the law. In 2013, Seth Andrew accepted a job with the Obama White House as a senior adviser in the Office of Educational Technology, where he served until President Barack Obama’s last day on the job. On Friday, January 14, the one-time Obama adviser pleaded guilty to wire fraud and stealing from charter schools he helped create in New York City.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said Andrew agreed to pay restitution to the schools he stole $218,000 from. In April, federal authorities arrested the one-time Obama adviser on charges related to his alleged misappropriation of money from the Democracy Prep charter school to include fraud, money laundering, and giving false statements to a financial institution. According to the allegation, Andrew used the stolen money to obtain a lower-interest loan to pay for a multimillion-dollar apartment in Manhattan.

It’s not known how Andrew stole the money or got caught. He faces up to a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal jail at his sentencing hearing on April 14. According to the Democracy Prep Public Schools website, the charter school educates responsible citizen-scholars and prepares them for the college of their choice as well as active citizenship.
