Ocasio-Cortez Has Almost No Support Among Black People

(TheDailyHorn.com) – Over the last several years, the Democratic Party has been in a state of flux. Just a few years ago, the party made concerted efforts to court blue-collar workers, Hispanics, and members of the black community. Over the last several years, the Democrats have shed their coat and become a primarily elitist party for wealthy white Americans. A new poll shows that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) public relations leadership is not leading the Democratic Party in the right direction ahead of this year’s midterm elections.

Echelon Insights’ monthly polling shows a significant demographic shift occurring in the Democratic Party. The data showed that Democratic voters generally preferred a primary candidate supported by President Joe Biden over one endorsed by AOC. When broken down by race, things get interesting. The contrast reveals how little power AOC has in the black community.

Black Democratic primary voters said that if a candidate was endorsed by Biden, it helped by a sizable 25%. Yet, if AOC supported a candidate, it hurt them by 24%. That’s a massive 49% gap. Compare that with white voters; Biden endorsement conferred a 4% edge, and an AOC-supported candidate lost 10%.

In relation to COVID-19, the poll concluded it was best not to talk about the issue among black voters.
