The wrestling world is mourning the loss of Vince Steele, a prominent independent wrestler known by his moniker “The Jurassic Juggernaut.” Steele, 39, tragically passed away following a medical emergency during a match on Sunday. The incident occurred during a four-way contest at a Brii Combination Wrestling (BCW) event in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. Reports indicate that Steele, a New York City native, suffered a cardiac event during the match.
BCW confirmed Steele’s passing in a statement released on Monday. The organization expressed its gratitude to the Ridgefield Park Police Department for their swift response and immediate provision of emergency medical assistance. Despite the rapid response and the best efforts of first responders, Steele could not be saved.
BCW described Steele’s death as an “unimaginable loss” and requested patience and respect as they navigate this tragic event. The organization also promised to share more details in the coming days about how they plan to honor Steele’s remarkable legacy.
Steele’s wrestling career spanned multiple organizations beyond BCW. He also worked with Coastal Championship Wrestling (CCW) in Florida and ACE Pro Wrestling in New Jersey. His wrestling career began in 2004, and he quickly made a name for himself in the independent wrestling circuit.
CCW also expressed their sorrow over Steele’s passing. In a statement, they said, “We are heartbroken to learn about the passing of ‘The Jurassic Juggernaut’ Vince Steele. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and his fans. Rest In Peace, big man. You will forever be missed.”
The entire professional wrestling community is now grieving the loss of “The Jurassic Juggernaut.” Fellow pro wrestler Vincent Michaels described Sunday as the worst day of his career, praising Steele for his dedication to the sport. He also commended the efforts of everyone present at the event who tried to save Steele.
