Early in his tenure, the president’s best approval ratings were on his response to COVID. Throughout the spring and into the summer, Biden regularly mocked and belittled Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis over his handling of the pandemic.
The highly popular governor stood his ground on vaccination passports, mask mandates, and forced vaccinations. Despite refusing to institute draconian containment measures, Florida has held its own with COVID compared to states with tighter mitigation orders.

On Thursday, November 18, DeSantis took shots at Biden during a public speech. He held an anti-vaccine mandate bill signing ceremony in Brandon, Florida. The significance of the location is probably not lost on the president. The anti-Biden slogan “Let’s Go Brandon” is a nice way of telling Biden to get lost.
The governor stated that the president had done a good job of restricting Americans’ liberties and tearing people down. With the anti-vaccine mandate legislation, he intended to lift people up and ensure that no one on the front lines should lose their job over a vaccine status.
DeSantis told reporters that the states are the primary vehicles to protect people’s freedoms while the federal government runs wildly out of control.
