MIAMI, FL – A deadly shooting at a commercial establishment in Miami resulted in the death of a security guard and left an officer and six bystanders with gunshot wounds, according to authorities. The incident, which occurred early Saturday, reportedly began with an altercation before escalating into a gunfight. The suspect involved in the shooting is also deceased.
The conflict initially involved the security guard, who intervened in the altercation only to be shot by the suspect, as reported by the Miami-Dade Police. Following police intervention, a shootout ensued, involving two officers who discharged their firearms. One of the officers was wounded in the lower extremity, while the suspect was killed.
Tragically, both the security guard and the suspect were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. Six bystanders were also injured by gunfire and were transported to nearby hospitals in varying conditions. Emergency response teams, including Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, swiftly arrived on the scene, providing medical assistance and transporting the wounded to medical facilities.
The injured officer was taken to the JMH Ryder Trauma Center, where he is listed in stable condition.
