Teen Son Stabbed Protecting Mom During Home Invasion

LONGVIEW, Washington — A 14-year-old boy is recovering after being stabbed while trying to protect his mother during a home invasion, according to local authorities. The incident occurred in the city of Longview on Mar 12 at around 8:20 pm.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Branson Luck, allegedly entered the home and stabbed a 31-year-old woman. The woman’s son bravely intervened, but was also stabbed in the process. Both the mother and son sustained severe, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Police arrived at the scene to find Luck outside the home with blood on his hands and pants, leading to his immediate detainment. The authorities later discovered the knife used in the attack. The incident has left residents unsettled, with the community abuzz with concerns over safety.

During the investigation, it was uncovered that Luck was also the prime suspect in an attempted armed robbery that happened nearby, just 10 minutes prior to the stabbing on the same evening. The victims in the robbery were unharmed but reported that Luck had brandished a knife and threatened them.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to gather more evidence and interview witnesses to further understand the series of events leading up to the two incidents. Luck is currently in police custody, facing charges related to the stabbing and the attempted armed robbery.

As the victims recover from their traumatic ordeal, Longview residents are grappling with the reality of the incident and the potential vulnerability of their community. Authorities continue to investigate both incidents and provide support to those affected.
