A Texas woman is fortunate to be alive after a spear was hurled at her vehicle, piercing her windshield while she was driving on a highway in San Antonio. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Monday on Interstate 10 East and Farm-to-Market 1516. The driver, Shavone Canales, was unharmed in the incident, which she described as a random attack.
Canales was driving when the spear, thrown from the side of the road, crashed through her windshield. The steering wheel of her vehicle fortuitously stopped the spear, preventing it from causing her any harm. Canales reported that she did not see who threw the spear, and it was not a result of road rage or anyone she knew.
In the aftermath of the incident, Canales expressed her hope that someone with information about the incident would come forward. She emphasized the danger of such actions, stating that if it wasn’t her, it could have been someone else who might not have been as lucky.
Canales captured the aftermath of the incident on her cell phone, including the arrival of police officers to inspect the damage. The video shows an officer extracting the spear from the windshield and holding it up to demonstrate its length, which was approximately 5 feet.
San Antonio Police are currently investigating the incident. They are reviewing footage from nearby surveillance cameras in an attempt to identify the person who threw the spear. Sgt. Washington Moscoso of the San Antonio Police Department condemned the act, stating that no one should ever throw any object towards a vehicle, a highway, or a busy road due to the potential danger it poses to drivers.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Canales narrowly escaped a potentially fatal situation when the spear, thrown by an unknown assailant, was stopped by her steering wheel. She has since shared her experience on social media, showing the spear lodged in her steering wheel and the shattered glass scattered across her front seats.
The San Antonio Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. No arrests have been made at this time.
