Two Brothers Violently Attack and Kill Groom at His Wedding

Rony and Josue Castaneda have been convicted of second-degree murder on February 9 after beating Joe Melgoza to death on his wedding night in Chino, CA.

On December 15, 2019, Melgoza and his wife celebrated their union at a family home with a mariachi band, photo booth, bar, DJ, and dance floor.

Although the Castaneda brothers were not invited to the reception, they attended and were seen mingling, dancing, and taking photos with female guests.

At the end of the night, the brothers left and returned armed with baseball bats. They made statements to Melgoza, which prompted him to jump a nearby fence to get close to them.

Once on their side, they attacked him with bats and fists. However, a family member was able to take the bat away and run into a home. Melgoza also ran away, and police officers found him dead in a yard near where the brothers beat him.

He had died from blunt force trauma to the head and passed away within minutes. Photos from the party placed Josue at the reception, although he denied attending.

Both brothers will be sentenced on March 13.
