Wild Zebra Runs Loose Through Neighborhood

(TheDailyHorn.com) – What would you do if you saw an exotic wild animal running through your neighborhood? If one wants to see a zebra, the best place to do so is at the local zoo, or you could take a trip to Africa. The last place you expect to see one of the black and white animals is grazing in your front yard.

Apparently, zebras have an attitude. In rural Louisiana, a homeowner snapped pictures and shot videos of a zebra that escaped from its home. Leah Darden posted the media on Facebook and asked if anyone was missing their animal — one that was standing at the back stairs of a neighbor’s house.

Leia and Jim Burford retrieved their beloved zebra from Darden’s friend’s backyard. Zydeco is the animal’s name. His owners had moved him to a new pasture. According to the Burfords, Zydeco was not happy with his new surroundings and escaped to a more enjoyable environment.

It seems that zebras are escape artists. Earlier in October, a group of them found their way out of an enclosure of a zoo at Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch and Orchard in Pingree Grove, Illinois. In September, six zebras went on an escapade through a Maryland community when they broke free from a private farm. They were on the loose for days before a driver called police after one of the zebras ran in front of their vehicle, almost causing an accident.
