Woman Allegedly Attempts to Murder Her Grandma with Back Scratcher in Vicious Attack

Cecilia Ann Lee, a 20-year-old woman from Louisiana, was arrested on April 4, 2021, and is being charged with attempted first-degree murder, one count of aggravated second-degree battery of the infirm, cruelty to the infirm, false imprisonment, and criminal property damage after allegedly beating her 85-year-old grandmother into critical condition.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from the victim’s home in Ville Platte regarding an elderly woman suffering from serious injuries. When detectives arrived at the scene, they soon discovered that a deliberate altercation caused the injuries.

Witnesses say that during the unfortunate incident, Lee pummeled her grandmother with a heavy-duty wooden back scratcher and a picture frame to the point that the elderly woman was left in critical condition. Police believe there was an altercation prior to Lee’s violent attack.

After the heinous beating, Lee allegedly destroyed property inside the home and intentionally damaged her grandmother’s cell phone to prevent her from calling for help. To top it all off, Lee reportedly passed out on her grandmother’s couch. The accused remains in the custody of Evangeline Parish Sherrif’s Office on more than $1 million bond.
