Woman’s Body Found Floating in River Near Bloodied Car

A chilling discovery was made on a Sunday morning when a woman’s corpse was found floating in the East River near a busy park in Queens. The body was spotted about 50 yards from a deserted Mercedes vehicle, which was stained with blood, as per police and eyewitness accounts.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) received a distress call around 11:15 a.m. about an unconscious person in the water near Fort Totten at Cross Island Boulevard and Totten Road. Upon reaching the scene, officers found an unresponsive woman, believed to be approximately 45 years old. Emergency medical services were immediately summoned to the location, where they declared the woman deceased.

The body was initially spotted by a passerby near the rocky shoreline, adjacent to a well-frequented jogging path that winds through Little Bay Park by the Throgs Neck Bridge. The identity of the deceased woman is being kept confidential until her family can be informed.

In the vicinity of the body, a white Mercedes E-class car with New York license plates was discovered. The car, abandoned about 50 yards away, had large bloodstains on the rear driver-side door. The medical examiner, responsible for determining the cause of death, photographed the car’s interior before moving to the body. The car’s white leather interior was also stained with blood, including a significant amount on the driver’s seat.

The identity of the woman is being withheld until her family is notified. The NYPD is currently investigating the case.

Residents of the usually tranquil neighborhood expressed shock at the gruesome scene. A local resident, Max, 48, from nearby Whitestone, said he had never seen a crime scene in the area before. He described the situation as “terrible,” noting the proximity of the body to the jogging path and the blood-stained car.

Max further voiced his disbelief, highlighting that the area is typically bustling with activity, especially on Sundays. He noted that the park is a popular spot for biking, rollerblading, and dog walking, making the discovery of the body even more disturbing.
