On Tuesday, a 7-year-old girl from the Bronx was left fighting for her life after being brutally stabbed allegedly by her own grandmother.
The incident happened at 317 Clinton Ave. around 8 a.m., prompting a response from the police.
As officers arrived at the scene, they found a young girl lying on her bed with stab wounds on her back, neck, and abdomen, as reported by News12.
The girl was taken to Lincoln Hospital in a critical state and was immediately put into surgery.
Her grandmother, 65-year-old Maritza Yauger, was taken to another hospital for psychiatric evaluation. The motive for the attack remains unknown.
Ana Martinez, a neighbor, witnessed the incident and spoke to The New York Post.
She reported that the victim was covered in blood, with it all over her face. She also saw a police officer quickly rush the victim into a patrol car without waiting for an ambulance.
Martinez, who is a 37-year-old mother of three, has seen the girl and her grandmother walking a dog around the neighborhood before.
According to the outlet, David Roamba, 57, witnessed the grandma being taken away by ambulance. He recollected that she appeared unwell and was struggling to walk, with someone holding her hand.
