Dickson, Tennessee – A horrifying incident unfolded on Monday evening when a man allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times before dousing her with gasoline and setting their house ablaze. Zachary Mowel, 28, now faces charges of attempted murder in the first degree, aggravated arson, aggravated assault, and domestic assault. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a press release detailing the disturbing events that unfolded on North Charlotte Street in Dickson, a small town on the outskirts of Nashville.
According to law enforcement authorities, firefighters were the first responders to arrive at the scene. A subsequent investigation by local police and state agents revealed that Mowel viciously attacked his wife before igniting their home. Shockingly, the attack occurred in front of their two young children, aged 5 and 8, who desperately pleaded for their father to spare their mother.
The victim, Tessa Mowel, miraculously survived the horrifying ordeal and is currently receiving treatment at the trauma unit of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. However, she remains in stable condition, paralyzed from the waist down, with significant injuries, including severe burns, multiple stab wounds, broken ribs, and a collapsed lung.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, as law enforcement officials have yet to disclose specific details. Tessa Mowel did inform the police that the couple had been involved in a heated argument prior to the violence. Nevertheless, upon the arrival of police officers at the scene, Zachary Mowel allegedly confessed, taking responsibility for the horrific act.
