Tammy Murphy Tests Positive for COVID After International Trip

(TheDailyHorn.com) – In another case of “do as I say, not as I do,” a Democratic governor is taking heat for irresponsible behavior after imposing restrictions on residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2020, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) attended a George Floyd protest while his state was under stay-at-home orders. In August 2021, Murphy jetted to COVID-plagued Italy for a 10-day vacation while the Delta variant spread rapidly. Now, he’s at it again.

On December 22, 2021, Murphy and his wife left the country for Costa Rica on an eight-day Christmas vacation. The trip came as the US State Department issued a warning asking travelers to reconsider trips to the Central American country amid a massive rise in COVID cases. Now, the governor’s wife has tested positive for COVID-19. The governor’s office said Tammy Murphy is asymptomatic and contracted the virus through non-family contact in their home.

When asked if the trip was appropriate considering the State Department’s warning, the governor said he and his family needed the vacation getaway. New Jersey Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R) said that it’s not new for Murphy to defy his own orders and scolded the governor for leaving the state on trips during the pandemic while imposing vaccine and mask mandates on the state’s citizens. Van Drew added that the governor is considering sending kids back to virtual schools.

So, is Murphy being hypocritical? Are New Jersey’s COVID mandates and restrictions helping or hurting the state?
