2 Dead After Mass Shooting at Block Party, Multiple Injured

Memphis, Tennessee – Two people were killed and six others were wounded in a mass shooting that took place during a block party on Saturday night, according to the Memphis Police. The incident occurred in the Orange Mound neighborhood on Carnes Avenue.

Upon responding to the scene at approximately 7:19 p.m., officers discovered five victims with gunshot wounds. Tragically, two males were pronounced dead, while the three other victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

During a news conference, Interim Police Chief CJ Davis addressed the ongoing investigation into the shooting, expressing the commitment of law enforcement in locating the suspects responsible. The police have identified at least two suspects who opened fire during the block party.

Various portions of Carnes Avenue and Grand Street were cordoned off as multiple crime scenes were examined by the authorities. The Memphis Fire Department deployed multiple ambulances to the location to provide immediate medical assistance.

The block party, which reportedly did not have a permit, drew a crowd of 200 to 300 individuals. The shooting incident has sparked a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading up to the tragic event.
